A worm is network-aware malware that copies itself from computer to computer via network shares or email packages. Since it does not require human help, it propagates more quickly than a virus. Examples include SQL Slammer, “Melissa” (actually a virus and worm), AnnaKournikova, LoveLetter, Love Bug, and Explore Zip.
