For the DSCP, there are two types of forwarding: expedited forwarding and assured forwarding. Expedited forwarding (EF) provides a low loss, low latency, low jitter, and assured bandwidth service. The value for EF is 101110. Assured forwarding (AF) defines a method by which behavior aggregates (BA) can be given different forwarding assurances. For example, traffic can be divided into interactive, premium, and business classes, with interactive being allocated 45 percent of the available link bandwidth, premium 35 percent, and business 20 percent. This gives a range of classes. The AFxy PHB defines four AFx classes, namely, AF1, AF2, AF3, and AF4. Within any one class there are three possible drop precedences.
