Dynamic IP address

An IP address that is automatically (dynamically) assigned when a system is booted up. This can be done by the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) on a dial-up connection, or by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) in most LAN environments or even on some access facilities (e.g., DSL, cable modem.
